Womens Health

We offer a range of women’s health services, with care tailored to your individual needs and circumstances. We can help with problems affecting your periods, contraception, reproductive health and menopause.

Periods and menstrual health

We can help if you have problems with your periods, including:

  • painful or very heavy periods
  • irregular, frequent or missed periods
  • bleeding between periods
  • changes in your usual period pattern
  • premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • severe mood changes or emotional symptoms linked to your periods, including PMDD
  • symptoms that may be related to conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

If your periods or symptoms are affecting your everyday life, please speak to us. It can be helpful to keep a period and symptom diary before your appointment.

Contraception

We provide confidential contraception advice and can help you choose a method that suits your health, lifestyle and preferences.

We can discuss different types of contraception, including the pill, implant, injection, patch, vaginal ring, coil (IUD/IUS) and emergency contraception. We can also discuss contraception if you are approaching the menopause or following pregnancy.

For further information, see NHS Wales – Sexual Health and Contraception or NHS England – Contraception.

Perimenopause and menopause

We can help if you are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause. Symptoms can vary from person to person and may include:

  • hot flushes and night sweats
  • changes in your periods
  • difficulty sleeping
  • anxiety, low mood or mood changes
  • difficulty concentrating or “brain fog”
  • headaches or palpitations
  • joint and muscle aches
  • vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • changes in sex drive
  • urinary symptoms.

We can discuss lifestyle changes, treatments and whether HRT may be suitable for you. We can also provide advice about contraception during perimenopause.

For reliable information, visit NHS Wales – Menopause or NHS England – Menopause and perimenopause.
